How to Flash CyanogenMod 7.0.1 to HTC Incredible S

HTC Phones along with the combination of the Cyanogen Mod is one of the best combination for all the customization and also it provides visibly different experience altogether when it comes to the fresh look of the home screen as well as the icon sets which are being used in this Cyanogen Mod. Pre Requisites:

• It’s very important to maintain a minimum battery power of 50% so as to facilitate the smoother rooting process or else there is a high possibility that your device may end up turning completely off in the process of rooting.
• In an unlikely event you may lose all the data which is present in your Galaxy S, so it’s recommended to create a backup of all the data like call log, messages, applications, music, videos and other data which is present in the phone, so that you can restore the same once the rooting process is completed.
• Last but not the least follow the below mentioned instructions carefully so as to save your phone from being turned into an expensive paper weight.

Turn Off Gaining S:
Note: So, before you proceed for Gaining S-Off, you will have to boot your HTC Incredible S in the HBOOT mode which can be done by booting the device in the bootloader by first powering off the device and then back to the power by holding the Volume down button along with the Power button till it enters into the desired mode.

• First up you will have to download the HTC Sync in your Windows desktop or laptop and also you will have to install the HTC Sync in your computer. After the installation of this gets done, you will have to uninstall the HTC Sync which you have installed but make sure that you don’t remove the drivers as only for drivers we had installed the HTC Sync in the computer.
• Now, next up you will have to disable the fastboot mode which can be done by going to the Settings > Power > Fastboot.
• After this, you will have to make sure that the USB Debugging is enabled in your HTC Incredible S which can be done from the path Settings » Applications » Development » USB debugging.
• As soon as you enable the USB debugging mode, you will have to now download the Alpha Rev X beta. Please note that as soon as you click on the link to download you will have to wait till the form pops up where you need to enter some details so as to generate the Key, which is as shown below.
• Now, at this point of time, you will have to connect your HTC Incredible S to your computer or Laptop with the help of the USB cable. Now, you will have to launch the Alpha Rev X Beta and then you will see that the HTC Incredible S along with the serial number of the device.
• After you see the serial number, you will have to again go back to that form to enter the serial number of the device to get the beta key.
• Once you are done with the procedure, you will get the beta Key, now go back to Alpha Rev X and enter in the beta key minding that the key contains both upper- and lower-case letters

• You will now see that the Alpha Rev X will attempt to temporary root the HTC Incredible S as it sets off the device and you will see that the device will be rebooting and the whole process will take around 5 – 10 minutes. Please note that if the whole process takes more than 15 minutes then reboot the device again, you may even have to sometimes reboot the device multiple times to finish the procedure.

Procedure to install Clock Work Mod Recovery:

• You will have to first fastboot on your computer for installing the ClockWorkMod recovery on your HTC Incredible S and then you will have to go through the Android SDK to get the fastboot shell on your computer.
• After this you will have to download the latest version of the ClockWorkMod in your computer.

• Now, you will have to boot into the bootloader and then you will have to connect the HTC Incredible S to the computer with the help of the USB and then after this you need to open the terminal in your computer and then you will have to run the below mentioned commands as shown below,

fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-4.0.0.4-vivo.img

• That’s it you have now successfully installed the ClockworkMod on your HTC Incredible S. Now, next we will proceed and see on how you can flash the Cyanogen Mod on your HTC Incredible S. Just in case if you are enable to install the CWM in the first attempt then you will have to again follow the instructions to install the CWM.

Procedure to flash Cyanogen Mod on your HTC Incredible S:

• So, now after successfully flashing the Clockwork mod recovery, you now have to launch the ROM Manager app and then you will have to choose the option Flash “Clockwork Mod recovery” for updating the latest version.
• Now, select the download ROM option from the main menu which is there in the ROM Manager after which you will have to choose the “Cyanogen Mod” option from the list after which simply choose the latest version of Cyanogen mod from the menu itself. Please note that if you want the default Google apps too along with the cyanogen mod then you will have to select the Google Apps option too in the list.
• So, once the ROM is finished with downloading the required files, you will have to now select the option “Backup existing ROM” along with “Wipe Data and Clear Cache” f prompted by the super user as this one deletes all unwanted previous version system clutter files which is unwanted.
• So, after accepting all the notifications, the HTC Incredible S will be restarting and will reboot in the recovery mode where in you will have to select “Wipe Data and Clear Cache” and then you will have to select the option of installing Cyanogen Mod. So, now as soon as the installation of the file systems is finished, this will reboot your device in the Cyanogen Mod successfully.

Procedure to flash the Cyanogen Mod via Recovery Mode:

• Alternatively you can also install this firmware via Recovery method. First, you will have to download the latest version of Cyanogen Mod along with the Google Apps for your device from your computer.
• Now, after this you will have to place this Cyanogen mod update.zip file on the root of the SD card along with the GoogleApps.zip in the root of your SD Card.
• Now, boot the device in the clockwork mod recovery and once the device boots in the Clockwork mod Recovery, with the help of side volume buttons to move around, and either the power button or the trackball to select the option.
• Now, you will have to select the option of “Wipe data/factory reset” and then you will have to choose “install zip from SD card” and then “choose zip from SD card”. Now, you will have to choose the “Cyanogenmodupdate.zip”. after installing this, you will have to install the Google Apps by performing steps again by choosing the GoogleAppsupdate.zip.
• Now, once the installation is finished you will have to select the OK option after which you will have to go back to the Main Menu and then you will have to select the “Reboot system now” option and need to select “Ok.
