A joint Samsung-Google event that was postponed out of respect for Steve Jobs's passing has been re-scheduled for October 19 in Hong Kong.
The event is widely expected to include the launch of the next version of Google's Android OS, codenamed Ice Cream Sandwich. Samsung is also rumored to be unveiling a new device, possibly the Nexus Prime.
Things will kick off at 10am local time (10pm Eastern) and will be livestreamed on YouTube for those who cannot make it to Hong Kong. The invite says, "Calling All First-to-knowers" and includes a photo of an ice cream sandwich-clad Android, like the one at left.
Later in the day, the Android team also tweeted a link to a YouTube video that showed a team delivering the Ice Cream Sandwich Android statue to Google headquarters. "Something delicious is coming," said a tweet from the newly created @Android feed.

The event was initially scheduled for October 11 in San Diego, where CTIA was also hosting its wireless trade show. Last Friday, however, the companies announced plans to delay the event, eventually saying it was out of respect for Jobs, who died on Oct. 5.
"We believe this is not the right time to announce a new product as the world expresses tribute to Steve Jobs's passing," Google said at the time.
The search giant previewed Ice Cream Sandwich at the Google I/O conference in May. Last month, Google chairman Eric Schmidt also let it slip at Salesforce.com's Dreamforce conference that Android 4.0 would be released in "October or November."
Rumors about the Nexus Prime (Galaxy Nexus?), meanwhile, have been making the rounds for some time. Recently, a random Twitter user tweeted a riddle that said the Nexus Prime would hit Verizon and Sprint on November 3. Days later, Notion Ink CEO Rohan Shravan slipped that his Android tablet Adam would be upgraded to Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich, in November "after Google's launch in late October."
